This cross is named Seraphim in honor of the highest of angels – the seraphim – beings of pure light, whose wings do not shelter but consume. Their name comes from the Hebrew śārāf, meaning "to burn," and their purpose is not to protect or comfort but to purify illusions and sins, revealing the truth.
In Isaiah's vision, a seraph descends and touches the prophet's lips with a burning coal, purging the impurities of the Ego and preparing him for the presence of the Divine. They do not bring messages, but reality itself, through the fire that transforms and reveals.
This is the call of the Seraphim: to remind you to empty yourself of the Ego, like gold passing through fire to reveal its purity. When looking at this cross, do not see it as a dead symbol – let it be your mirror. Everything that is transient, everything built on fear and separation, let it fall into the flames. And what will remain? Your Divine Self, burning with undying light.
